Amy Hutchinson, MD joined the Emory Eye Center in 2002. Dr. Hutchinson’s clinical practice includes all areas of pediatric ophthalmology. Her special interests are in retinopathy of prematurity screening and treatment, pediatric cataract and refractive surgery, and pediatric vision screening.
Dr. Hutchinson recently developed and validated a new eye chart for children: “the Handy Eye Chart™.” This chart is for use in very young and non-verbal or non-English speaking children.
Dr. Hutchinson is also a participant in the NEI-funded Amblyopia Treatment Studies that apply evidence-based medicine to the treatment of amblyopia and is a founding member of the Pediatric Refractive Eye Surgery Study Group (PRESS group) whose mission is to explore the role of refractive surgery in children.
Dr. Hutchinson is a member of the Federally sponsored National Expert Panel on Vision Screening. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Ophthalmic Technology Assessment Committee and a member of the AAPOS Vision Screening Committee. She currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for Prevent Blindness Georgia.
