Jeremy K. Jones, MD

Jeremy K. Jones, MD, joined the Eye Center’s section of Glaucoma in 2013.  He serves as the Ophthalmology Residency Program director and as associate chief of Ophthalmology at Grady Memorial Hospital.  Jones is a native Georgian and received his undergraduate degree from Berry College. He completed his medical education at the Emory University School of Medicine, being selected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.  He completed his Transitional Year internship, Ophthalmology Residency, and Glaucoma Fellowship at Emory.

Dr. Jones is actively involved in clinical trials investigating new medical and surgical therapeutic options for glaucoma.  He is particularly interested in the education of ophthalmology residents and medical students as well as advocacy on behalf of his profession and his patients. He has been invited to give lectures at numerous cataract surgery wet-lab courses across the country and is currently the co-director of a program teaching Ophthalmology residents in Peru cataract surgery remotely.  His clinical interests include the medical and surgical management of glaucoma, laser therapy for glaucoma and surgical management of cataracts.

National Recognition

Dr. Jones is a member of the Medical Association of Georgia, the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, the America Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Glaucoma Society. He was selected for and completed the Georgia Physician’s Leadership Academy and the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Leadership Development Program.  He currently serves as the President of the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology.

• Diagnosis and medical management of glaucoma in adults and adolescents

• Surgical management of glaucoma, including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS)

• Laser therapy for glaucoma

• Surgical management of routine and complex cataracts
