Sheryl Menacker, MD

Assistant Professor, Pediatric Ophthalmology


Sheryl Menacker,MD, joined the Emory Eye Center in January 2014 to launch an ophthalmic practice for individuals of all ages with disabilities and to instruct ophthalmology residents in this specialized field.

She earned her undergraduate degree maxima cum laude from LaSalle College and her medical degree cum laude at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and a pediatric ophthalmology fellowship at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She then joined the Children's Hospital staff as a full-time attending physician.

In 1992, Menacker joined a multispecialty ophthalmology group in suburban Philadelphia, where she practiced pediatric ophthalmology until January 2022. In addition to her full-time pediatric ophthalmology practice, she directed an eye care clinic at Woods Services, a residential facility in the Philadelphia area for individuals with disabilities from 1996 to 2019. In 2014, she began commuting to Atlanta to run this clinic for patients with disabilities at the Emory Eye Center.

Menacker is a certified Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She is an examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and has been active on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Eye Foundation. She also has served on several committees of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. She has held a clinical appointment at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and the Emory University School of Medicine.
