Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology
Section of Optometry
Denh Tuyen, OD, joined Emory Eye Center in February 2017 as part of the optometry section. She focuses on specialty contact lenses and partners with physicians to provide inpatient triage services at our Midtown Office Tower clinic.
Dr. Tuyen earned her optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton. She then completed a one-year primary care residency at Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, followed by a one-year ophthalmology internship at Eye Physicians and Surgeons in Wilmington, Del.
Her experience includes work in a multi-disciplinary emergency clinic with retina, glaucoma and cornea subspecialists. She has used scleral, bandage, corneal RGP and other specialty lenses to treat keratoconus, persistent epithelial defect and other conditions. During an eight-month externship with The Veteran’s Affair in Amarillo, Tex., and Las Vegas, Nev., she worked with almost one thousand patients diagnosed with glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy and retinal vein occlusion.
Dr. Tuyen also has an active clinical education background, having served as a preceptor to students and residents for five years while with the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She lectured students on specialty contact lenses and ocular pathology, as well as supervised and taught an ocular health procedures laboratory.
