Emory Eye Center welcomes neuro-ophthalmologist

Valérie Biousse, MD, joined the neuro-ophthalmology unit of the Emory Eye Center and the Department of Ophthalmology at Emory University School of Medicine and The Emory Clinic on July 1. She received her medical degree from the University of Paris VI in Paris, France. She also holds a master of science from the same university.

Dr. Biousse trained as an academic neurologist in Paris, where she also completed a stroke fellowship. She came to Emory for a clinical-research fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology, and subsequently completed an internal medicine internship and an ophthalmology residency at Emory University. She will be boarded in both ophthalmology and neurology. During her training, she has earned multiple awards, including the French Stroke Society Award and both the Fellow Award and The Young Investigator Award from the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society.

Dr. Biousse has clinical interests in optic nerve diseases, ocular and cerebral vascular diseases, and other diseases involving the intracranial visual system. Her research interest is in cerebral and ocular vascular diseases. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Neurology, the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, The International Neuro-Ophthalmology Society, the American Heart Association, the French Society of Neurology, and the French Stroke Society. Dr. Biousse is pleased to accept referrals through the Emory Eye Center.
