Retina Expert Dr. Thomas Albini to Be Featured Lecturer at Emory Eye Center’s SEVR 2019 Seminar in March

(Atlanta) – Emory Eye Center will host the 33rd annual Southeastern Vitreoretinal Seminar (SEVR) on Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, 2018, at the Emory Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta, Ga.

The conference will open Friday morning with the Paul Sternberg, Jr., lecture, presented by Thomas A. Albini, MD, of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He is professor of Clinical Ophthalmology on faculty with the Miller School of Medicine in Miami.

Albini joined the Bascom Palmer faculty in 2006. His areas of expertise include uveitis, vitreoretinal diseases and surgery, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and macular diseases. His research interests center on experimental autoimmune uveitis and intravitreal injections.

Other invited featured guest lecturers for SEVR 2019 will include Amani Fawzi, MD, of Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, and Chris Bergstrom, MD, of Retina Consultants of Carolina.

The remainder of the seminar will feature case presentations along with clinical updates and point-counterpoint discussions related to vitreoretinal surgery, medical retinal diseases, uveitis, and related topics. Emory Eye Center faculty and invited guest faculty will discuss some of their most interesting cases; attendees are invited to bring their own for sharing.

SEVR 2019 is directed by Steven Yeh, MD, G. Baker Hubbard, III, MD, and Ghazala A. Datoo O’Keefe, MD, within the Retina and Uveitis services at the Emory Eye Center.

“We are absolutely delighted to have such esteemed guest faculty joining us to speak at SEVR,” Yeh said. “Their collective expertise will be extremely valuable as SEVR attendees present complex cases, discuss vanguard clinical trials, and work towards our mutual goal of providing outstanding retina and uveitis care.”
